3 examples of plugins built on top of Front

A new version of this post has been published: Check out how 4 innovative teams work faster with custom apps in Front.

Plugins are mini web applications that can be used inside of Front. More than a third of our customers have built a plugin! The possibilities are endless, but to give you a rough idea, here are a few examples of what they can do.

1. Display Customer Information in Front (example: Eaze)

You can connect Front with your back-office and/or your CRM data using our API. Here is an example of what Eaze has built: when a customer is reaching out, support representatives can see:

  • Birthday

  • Rating

  • Number of previous orders

  • Total spent

  • Last orderEtc.

They can see and edit this information directly from Front.

2. Translate the content of your e-mails (example: Front)

If you’re receiving an email in a foreign language that you don’t understand, just open your plugin to read the traduction. You can even copy and paste custom content in the box to translate additional text.

We made this plugin internally but you can add it to your company’s account right away! Just copy and paste this URL: https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/frontapp-cyril/index.html into the plugin section of your Front settings.

3. Resolve common issues directly from the app (example: Teachable)

Teachable has built 5 plugins for Front. Each one allows Front users to resolve the most common issues without even leaving the app. Those actions include:

  • Refund last payment

  • Create temporary password

  • Enable customer payment providers

  • Activate/deactivate features

Those plugins are critical to their efficiency: with over 1800 business, they had to scale their support operations. When I asked how much time it took to build the plugins, Ankur the CEO and founder of Teach said “it was the night project of one of our developers, it wasn’t complicated at all.” (kudos to Michael Poage and Noah Pryor!)
